American Black Walnut

Juglans nigra (NE North America)

American Black Walnut is widespread among the rich soils of the Central Eastern and Midwest Regions of the USA, where it has long been used for good quality furniture and all joinery requiring quality of finish combined with strength and resilience. It is dark purplish chocolate brown in colour and develops a deep lustrous patina with age. Despite knots, its appearance makes this wood stand out as one of the supreme cabinet making timbers.

Note the majority of our stock is Superior American Black Walnut which is the highest grade available in the UK.
