Cherry comes from the Appalachian Region of North America where it has long been used in the manufacture of traditional Shaker style furniture. Cherry has a warm pink-brown colour with paler greenish bands, a distinctive grain figure and occasional dark pitch streaks. The uniform fine grain works to a smooth finish and ages to a mellow richness, adding to the appearance of the fine furniture and joinery to which this timber is admirably suited.
